[resolved] Calculating ascend not correct - somehow

Hi,

I notice, when I select the center of the map -> Tools -> "Calculate change of height" the ascend/descend is only for the next position. So far so good. But when I set this as a "line" (see images) I would also expect, that the height profile shows the profile of that "track" - and not a straight line only.
I am not sure if this might have been suggested/is already a feature request. It would be great, if the height profile would take the changes in elevation along the full path and display that.
In one (2nd) of the images you can clearly see there are multiple elevation changes - no way it can be a continuous ascend ;-) Olaf

Hi Olaf,
The compute slope layer tool only computes the slope values between 2 points.
This is useful when you want to compute a slope from raster contours, to get the avalanche dangerousness.

What you want to do can be achieved with the "Draw a path" tool, the application will give you the elevation profile.
It has also been requested to get the elevation profile from two points (exactly what you expected, it seems), this is planned for a future version.

Hi,

thank you for this quick help. I had to search for "draw a path" in the docs as I can not change the app language. Yes, this is the feature I was looking for (actually: you implemented the "draw" even better that I had in mind).
For the information of others: Here is the explanation how to "Draw a path" : http://alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/landm ... 20a%20path
