Live Track Characteristics

I am not overkeen on the track recorder style, as it does look a bit heavy and clunky, however I must add that it is not a big deal.

Having drawn my first path few days ago I was delighted to discover I could customise the colour, opacity and style and I thought that it would be great if I could do that for a track!

I have found I can do the same for a closed track but so far I have not found a way of doing that for a live track. The best I have managed so far is to create and post edit a dummy short track and when I want to start select resume. (I think that might work but have not tested it yet).

Has anyone got a better idea?

OK, I have got a solution that works well for me, there might be an elapsed time element involved but in essence this is what I did:

I created and closed a very short track and then edited it:
Made the name 'Amaster' simply to bring it near the top of the displayed placemarks list.
Edited the colour to magenta. (simply to check a change had been made)
Edited the style to the thin line with arrows (because that was what I wanted).
(You only have to do this once)

I can't be 100% sure that this what I did because I think there could an elapsed time element but it was along these lines.
I selected the Amaster track and edited it to 'resume' and turned the track recorder on from within 'Positioning'
Somewhere here you will get an option 'Resume' or 'Start new Track'

If you start a new track you get exactly that with the traditional blue colour but importantly it retains the style.
When you close the track it reverts to the 'Amaster' setting ie magenta and style.

There is certainly a time related element because turning on the track recorder from positioning will:
(a) immediately provide a menu Resume or start New track or
(b) bring up a menu with track recorder off on a banner, turning this on brings up the choice as above.

There might be more but for at least for it is [fixed]

Hi David,

Here is some information that might help:

- When you start the track recorder from the "Positioning" menu, if the previously recorded track has been ended less than 18 hours ago, the application will ask you if you want to resume this last track or start a new one.
If the last recorded track is more than 18 hours, then it will start a new track without asking you anything. So if you want to resume a track that is older than 18 hours, you'll have to display the recorded tracks list and resume the last one.

- When you resume a track (select a track, display its menu and tap "Resume), the track recorder will load the locations of this track and automatically start. There is no need to manually start the track recorder after resuming a track.

- While a track is being recorded ("live track"), it's displayed in blue with small arrows. There is no general setting to change this style (however it's possible to change the color with an user setting).

- When the track recorder is stopped, the recorded track is saved and displayed. If this track has been resumed from an existing track with a particular style, then this style is restored. Otherwise the track is displayed with the default placemarks color (that can be edited in the general settings).

Hi,

So sorry for wasting your time, as you know it is doing exactly what I would like it to do. I won't bore you with all the sordid details but my wife whose navigational needs are practically non existent likes to use the dismal Outdoor Active App because of the cumulative mileage statistics provided on their website. For some reason I was using OA (I only keep it as a tutorial for her) and got the track trace confused.

My most sincere apologies as I am sure their are more important things you could be doing.

Kind regards
David
