That zoom slider: it is so easy to zoom to 0 level or whole world view. In fact an accidental touch in the wrong spot will do it. Therefore I propose a preference. A limit of just how far zoomed out that slider should go. Often we don't want to zoom out too far. We just want to stay within the same county.
Once zoomed out too far, it is easy to lose your place where you were located so zooming back in is a lot of trouble.

Yes I agree, for some maps it does zoom very far out, which may be unnecessary.
I've checked the code and it's closely linked to the current zoom levels and zoom buttons, so it's not easy to only change the zoom bounds of the slider.
So I add it to the wanted list cause I won't be able to work on this soon.

This is now done in version 2.3.1.
