Display GPS timestamps on track?

Is, or was there an option for this?

I don't mean the track total/relative time that can be displayed in "Dynamic profile", but absolute (local) time, i.e. when exactly I was at a certain location.

I seem to remember there was a time tag "hh:mm:ss" that followed the dot when dragged/scrolled along the track, but I may be wrong. Anyway, I don't know how to do it now (AlpineQuest OffRoad Explorer version 2.1.1f).

The <time> tag in GPX files looks like this:

<trkpt lat="48.4041086" lon="9.7912834">
<ele>505.088989257812</ele>
<time>2018-09-29T07:03:07Z</time>
</trkpt>

The AlpineQuest documentation mentions a "time controller panel" (section: landmarks), but doesn't elaborate - probably deprecated anyway.

Just found this topic: https://www.alpinequest.net/forum/viewt ... f=3&t=3510

He/she asked the same question.

"Control time" option is missing from my Placemarks menu (main menu), but it appears I have the most recent version - for my device, Android 6.0.1 (Cyanogenmod 13).

Any trick to make it show, besides reinstalling?

Hi!
Actually there is a trick!
At least one GPS track must displayed on the map for this entry to show.
Note that this feature apply to track, not for the maps!

Yes, I see now it works - but only for "recorded", not for "imported tracks" (gpx file format, haven't tested others).

The gpx file contains all the necessary data. Maybe this can be enabled in a future update?

P.S. Is it safe to just move *.trk files between different installs of AlpineQuest (same version)? These are the files in "recorded tracks".
I use a WiFi tablet to review, but I record tracks on my phone or LTE tab.

Thanks for your reply 8-)

Hi,
It does work with all tracks (imported or recorded) that have time information.
If you import a GPX track that has not been initially recorded (but only drawn using any method), then there is no timestamp recorded and the application cannot replay the track.

And yes you can copy .trk track files from a device to another (even if the app version is not the same).

Best regards

Sorry, it doesn't work for me.

All my GPX tracks look like the example in post #1, all exported by AlpineQuest, so they do indeed have (absolute) time information. (And "control time" with the original TRK files works just fine.)

Significantly, AlpineQuest displays these tracks after import not with a path symbol (like a recorded track), but with a landmark/placemark collection symbol (flag with document icon).

Why is that?
AQ seems to have trouble recognizing it as a track.

See attached track for testing.

Here's a screenshot how this track looks as imported -

Ok I see.
This is because your track isn't directly displayed, but rather contained inside a landmark file which is displayed.
I'm currently releasing a new version (2.2.0) which fixes this problem.
So you should get the new fixed version within one or two days.
Best regards
