In AlpineQuest landmarks can be removed from the screen in the following way:
1. Landmarks → Displayed landmarks → Check or uncheck the necessary one
2. Landmarks → Displayed landmarks → 3 vertical dots → Display all / Hide all or Undisplay selected
3. Tap on a landmark and on it’s name → Undisplay
In all cases you should do some actions to display/undisplay/hide landmarks (waypoints, tracks, routs, areas etc.)
Sometimes it is necessary just to hide landmarks for a while (for example to see the way where a track goes on the map or to look at the location without landmarks on it, just to see a map) and do it quickly.
Is it possible to add an option to temporarily hide landmarks by longpress on the screen? You can add a special item with a checkbox in Landmarks → Options (near existing “Landmarks labels”) and name it for example as “Hide all landmarks on longpress”
I think it can be useful for quick hide and unhide landmarks, move the map on the screen and then see all landmarks again after I finish longpress. I do not think it will interfere with pinch-to-zoom because to my mind hide/unhide on longpress is a little bit different to pinch-to-zoom (by two fingers).
Thanks

Hi Alex,
Thanks for this suggestion. I understand what you mean.
I'll try to add this feature in the next update.
Best regards

Long Press on a Landmark is already used to open the URL, if present. Please DO NOT disable this feature which I use a lot.

Yemble, As far as I remember the URL is opened when long-pressing a displayed landmark popup menu, not just the map.
Anyway this new long-press feature will be disabled by default.
Best regard

This would be really useful to me as well. I have > 1700 landmarks and in some areas they are so dense that seeing the map to zoom to an approximate area is just about impossible. Temporarily hiding them would be so nice...

Thanks

Hi,
This feature has been added in version 2.0.9.
You must activate it from the application preferences.

The long-press option to show only the map is *so* cool. Could the center dot optionally be exempted from that?

Thank you

Hi,
I'll have a discussion with the user that suggested this idea, but can I ask you why?
My personal point of view is the the center dot is just as big as any other points so it make sense removing it like others...

hi. my rationale for that request is so I can long-press to temporarily hide, plus drag/scroll to a desired location, and know that the center will be reasonably close to where I want it. as it is, dragging lacks precision because I just have to guess where center is. when I let my finger off, I'm back to my mess of waypoints. the size of the center dot is, for me, miniscule compared to the giant mess of waypoints and their labels that your awesome feature temporarily hides.

Hi again,
I've published a new beta.
When long-pressing, the center icon will be displayed 2 times smaller than normal.
I hope it will be fine for everyone.
Best regards
