[fixed] Placemarks imported from Google Earth KML

I import KMLs from Google Earth and a behavior that AQ used to exhibit (and was fixed for a period of time) has resurfaced. Some icons weren't being associated with a built-in AQ icon and displayed with a generic dot. At some point in the last couple years this was fixed and then all GE icons were simply imported and displayed in AQ like they appear in GE. It seems like the most recent version reverted back to not associating the icons to the already imported GE icons. So now I'm back to seeing just generic dots. Is there some way for it to use the GE icons again? I doubt it's importing then with the KML either but haven't tested that.
Here's an example of two icons, one that gets associated with the built-in AQ icon and the other that does not. Neither of these are the one exported in the GE KML.

Hi and sorry for this problem.
Import of KML/KMZ files has been reworked in the last 2.0.8 version, and even if all test cases where passed it's possible something could have been missed.
Would it be possible for you to import the same file using the KMZ format? (If you can't re-export the file, just zip your KML file and replace the ".zip" file extension with ".kmz"). It would help me to identify the problem.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply. Ok, I went back and exported from GE to a .kmz and it seems to have worked on the AQ import and is associating the icons. But with that, there's a few more related things I'm noticing:
- as of version 2.0.6, it looks like instead of importing all icons to the main icons directory, it makes a new/dedicated icons directory for each imported .kml/kmz. Before it just kept one unique but not duplicated list of icons.
- seems to import a unique file for each instance of the same icon but just gives it a unique filename
- when you delete an .ldk file, it doesn't clean up its associated icons directory.
Just seems like a lot of duplicate storage of icons.

Hi again,
Yes as you've seen one of the changes recently made is the use of a dedicated icons folder when importing files.
Previously, existing icon names where re-used, but some users complained of that behavior resulting of a mess when using common icon names like "icon1.jpg". It's true that the new behavior will create more icons (possibly duplicated), but I consider it more safe than re-using existing ones that could be totally different.
It's also true that icons are not deleted along with the imported files. It allows users to still use those icons in the futures, like a growing library of icons (it would be anyway very difficult to delete those icons).
All that being said, I'll have to fix the issue when using KML files.
Sorry about that.
Best regards
