I'm new to AlpineQuest and have only been using it for a short period, so if its my lack of knowledge in terms of functionality I apologise.
I love the fact that I can use my old Memory Map maps. What I am so not happy with (it may be me) is the 'no simple starting to track movements. One button to switch on the things that will start the tracking process followed by 'sure you want to track Y/N' followed by 'Track colour' and a list of choices to choose from. If running already 'Finish tracking Y/N?'
The details of the current walk to be more relevant than the ones displayed at present. To me these are a load of mumbo Jumbo and are not easy to read. Can I not have Distance traveled, speed, height climbed in a size and clarity that is easy to read, again under the control of a button which then switches to a blank screen to show this information more clearly then reverts after say 6 seconds.
When the walk is completed then these details can be saved automatically in whatever format, following a request for a name or even emailed to wherever.
As I said I have not been using it for long.
The support forum is temporarily read-only. For urgent requests, please email contact[at]psyberia.net

Re: Ease of Use
Hi and thanks for your interest in our application.
It seems that you're used to your old application and try to find here an exact copy. All applications are different, so you'll find different thing in our application, maybe some better and maybe some less good.
Now, concerning the "simple starting to track movements" button, there's actually one: click on the GPS Location menu and you'll find it. This is "toggle" right to "Location Tracker". Click on it to start the tracking (it then turns green), click again to stop the tracking. It seems this is exactly what you want.
Concerning the details, it's true that there's not displayed so "large" in the Location Tracker window, but there are only 3 lines displayed just what you want: length, speed and gain (height climbed).
But this part will be improved in the new update.
Also, you have the distance and time always displayed in the screen (top/left). You can change the text size in the application Settings.
Best regards

Re: Ease of Use
To get more details on your recorded track (including the profile graphic), click on the "Location" menu (2nd from right), and "Location tracker".
You should get something like this (depends on your version): http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/tracker
