I am having similar problems to crinklystarfish below, in that my Nexus 7 (2013) has recently had an Andriod update to Lollipop 5.1.1 and it is now drawing my memory map qcts very slowly. The main map I use is a 25k Northern England OS and is about 2.5gb. I have read the other post but my nexus has not started behaving it self unfortunately. I also use you latest version of AQ on a Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.3) with the same file and although not blazing fast when zoomed out it still works quite well. The problem does seem to after the latest android update.

It seems that for the other report you mentioned (posted here), the speed got better after some time.
Did you try to restart your device? It may also be possible that some memory check process is running in the background, slowing reads on the memory. I have unfortunately no real solution to give you right now, until a PC app is available to convert your .QCT maps...
Let me know if something changes these days.
