Getting Yahoo Maps to work in China

Hi

I'm living in Shanghai, China and good maps in English or pingying (ie not chinese characters) are really hard to find. Google maps is not good here and the Chinese maps (e.g. Baidu) only use Chinese characters. However there is one map that is the best - it is the Yahoo map I can access on my browser. For example:

https://maps.yahoo.com/place/?lat=31.21 ... 2C%20china

It has accurate street numbers and pingying addresses.

However I can't access this map on the Offline Maps app. What I get when loading any of the Yahoo maps (Street,Satellite,Hybrid) is the message, "Service Unavailable - code:503". This happens if I use a VPN running or not.

Is there a way I can access the same maps that are used on maps.yahoo.com for Shanghai?

Thank you,

Paul

Hi and thanks for your notification.
You're right that these maps seem very good over there, that's interesting...
I've fixed them, sorry about this issue.
To get the new version, open the Maps Explorer, click on "Add more maps" and select "Yahoo maps" (you may need to restart the app if you were currently using these maps).
Let me know if you have any issue
Best regards

Great! Thank you! I've just got back to this forum to check for responses and tried it out. It works like a charm and I now have access to a map with all the Shanghai street names and street numbers.

Thank you.
