I am interested in the following additions in 1.4.14:

Added display grid overlay option for coordinate formats (including UTM and MGRS/USNG zones);
Added ability to display tracks with dynamic colors representing length, elevation, speed or incline;
Added ability to change tracks and routes style (various dashes available);
Added ability to select a translucent color from the color picker dialog;

I can get the translucent color to work but not the ability to change track and route styles. If I plot a route in Alpinequest then the option to change the style is offered but not if I import a route as a gpx file

How do I display the tracks with the dynamic colors?

Hi,
Yes you cannot directly change style/dynamic colouring of GPX tracks since it's not supported by this format.
What you need to do is first copying your track (long-press it and select 'Copy') and then pasting it in a folder to convert it in the AlpineQuest track format, then you'll be able to change/edit everything, including style and dynamic colouring.

The grid overlay option is available in the main AlpineQuest menu (first button in the map bottom menu). This is the last option (you may need to scroll the menu if needed). If you check it, then grids will be displayed (based on the selected coordinate formats in the application settings) as displayed below.

Thanks for your reply but I am still having a problem in converting my imported gpx routes into the alpinequest format so that I can use the full display features. I have tried copying it as you describe and pasting it into another folder but no conversion has taken place. Am I missing something?

Hi again,

Be sure to:
- Use the application to do that (not a file explorer or your PC);
- Copy/paste a route, not the GPX file itself. You need to first click on the GPX file to browse it and display the routes, and then long-press a route or a track and select 'Copy'. Then paste it outside of the GPX file (use the 'Back' button to return outside of the GPX file).

Also note that elevation values must be available within the GPX route you are importing. You can check if its the case by long-pressing the route, select 'Details' and check is a profile graphic is displayed.
