Alpine Quest is a fantastic killer App, with one extremely annoying omission, editing the waypoints on a route is just really frustrating and un-intuitive. There is a waypoint menu that allows you to edit details, but the one thing you want to do (move the waypoint) YOU CANT DO!!!, I don't want to change the colour or the name of my waypoints, I want to move them - How hard can this be.

Tap waypoint see move menu, it should then move to the centre marker
Tap on waypoint - add waypoint after or before menu- new waypoint at centre marker

Hi and thanks for the feedback.
I agree that modifying a route is not so simple, but I don't really think it could be much easier (keeping in mind that the app is not an editor in the first place).

Just click on a route and select 'Edit points'...

Here is a detailed tutorial with screenshots: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/ ... of_a_route

Best regards

I join this topic for a similar question. We use AlpineQuest at work on site visits: his ability to use WMS/WMTS servers and choose the coordinate system makes it unique among the outdoor apps and even the "GIS apps". Editing waypoints is really difficult and looks impossible.

What we do is: preparing the site visit using GIS programs, and we export the results in GPX (because KML is read only) - mostly points. On location we have to confirm that the data we "guessed" from the map is correct, so we have to add/move/edit points. Currently the only we found was to add a new file to create points and indicates in the comment that the point "X" shoud be moved there, and then back at the office 'applying' the modifications. Being able to do simply move it on location could then be a great addition!

I understand it is not the intended use of AlpineQuest, but it looks it has the most versatile 'mapping engine' among the mapping maps. We even bought Android tablets just because of AlpineQuest. The application is offering the most possibilities when it comes to choose the maps and coordinate systems (some 'professional' apps are so US-centric that it is not possible to choose a 'custom' coordinate systems!).

Hi and thanks a lot for your feedback and support.

You should already be able to achieve what you need we the app. The only thing is that you need to convert your data in the 'native' application format.
When using the native format, you can edit (move) quite easily points of sets, like explained in this tutorial: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/ ... s_of_a_set

You can convert from/to the GPX format your data by copying/pasting the sets from or to GPX files, see here: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/1.4/ ... gpx_format. Click on the 'Waypoints' header to copy the whole set of waypoints.

When directly using the GPX format, it's true that you can only move points of routes, not of sets.

However, all this is likely to change soon, as we plan to remove the edit support of the GPX format, replacing it by a real import/export feature (which will also include other supported formats like KML, KMZ, CSV, and planned supports like SHP). It will increase performances and stability.

Let me know if you have any thought about that,
Best regards
