AlpineQuest & OfflineMaps

I have a problem. Before I start recording the track of a walk I always delete any current tracks. However when I open Alpine Quest and start walking using location tracker I find there is a straight line from where I last used the app to my current position and the length of this line is added to the distance of my current track. I cannot find a way to stop this happening or a way to get rid of it once it has happened.
What am I doing wrong?

It seems you have targeted a location.
To remove it, click on the Landmark menu (3rd from left), then 'Displayed landmarks'. Long press the one targeted (upper part) and select 'Remove'.
