[done] Google "plus codes"

Post by photoleif »

It may be a bit faddish, but it's at least interesting in the way that USNG is:

Code: Select all

https://github.com/google/open-location-code/blob/master/docs/olc_definition.adoc
Any chance we'll see that messy spec turned into pretty, nearly readable codes in AQ at some point?

Hi,
I'll have a look at this, it should be possible.
It seems to work offline so it will be better than the similar "what3word" decoder already available.
Thanks for the suggestion
Best regards

Great, thanks. Given that it is calculated, rather than looked up, it does as you say work offline. The math to do it seemed pretty extensive, so perhaps it could at some point be a center-dot kind of option, rather than a status bar sort of thing.

Google "plus codes" (officially called Open Location Code) are now available for display/input as of version 2.0.10.

Thanks. Looks good. I see that Google has been showing those online for a while.
