[closed] Proximity alert no longer works

I am using version 2.0.8 (paid) on a Samsung S4 phone Running Android Version 5.0.1. It has no SD card installed.

The proximity alert no longer works. I have carefully checked all the volume, sound and notification settings on the phone and everything is set correctly.

I just tested it using GPS only outside as I walked towards a few waypoints with proximity alert. It made no alert sound.

How do I troubleshoot this?

Update: The proximity alert does not work on my two Android phones running 2.0.8.
It appears to be a bug in the software.

Hi Trekker,
As of 2.0.8, all sounds (proximity alerts, follow path) are now played along with a notification.
Be sure to have the notifications volume up, and that you haven't disabled notifications for AlpineQuest.

If everything seems right and you still can't hear a sound, can you tell me is you can see a notification displayed in the top system bar, and with what message.

Version 2.0.8

On both of my phones all volume setting are turned up. In the Android settings Notifications are enabled for the Alpinequest App.
On my S4 phone I have a user-settings.config file that includes

core.audio.volume=1
core.audio.stream=5

It should play the native notification sound on my phone.

The display indicates an alert, but I still do not hear any Proximity alert sounds.

I have removed the config file and it still does not sound an alert.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can fix the proximity alert not playing a sound on both my Samsung phones?
Is there a specific sound file that it plays? Perhaps I deleted it.

Hi again and sorry for the delay.
The sounds are built-in the application, there is no way to remove it.

I've update the online help and added a proximity alerts troubleshooting section, please have a look and check all the points.

If you see the notification icon in the status bar, it means the application has correctly given the notification (along with the sound) to the system, so I'm pretty sure it's something to set up there.

I reinstalled the app on both of my phones and now the proximity alerts work.
When all else fails, reinstall I guess.
