Hi and thanks for AlpineQuest.
My device is Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 6.0.1
AlpineQuest 2.0.4 release
I have never made picture waypoints on this particular device but today I tried and found an error (see on the screenshot). I used Galaxy regular camera.
What should I do?
Alexander

Re: Picture waypoints problem
The first obvious step would be to rule in, or rule out, the standard camera app.alexlong wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2017 10:14 am Hi and thanks for AlpineQuest.

I suggest you install OpenCamera, which is free on PlayStore, ad free and vastly superior to the standard camera app. Make it the default app, then see if that behaves differently in AQ.
I've just created a picture waypoint with OpenCamera in AQ on my Android 6.01 phone and it worked perfectly.
Re: Picture waypoints problem
Hi and thanks for suggestion
Actually I have several camera applications — regular Galaxy Note Camera, ProShot, Camera API, Open Camera.
Open Camera says "Can not save photo"
ProShot, Camera API just make photos but AQ can not get it.
Anyway I would like to use Galaxy Note regular camera

My photo save location is on local device storage, rather than extSD and my device is rooted with SU. However, neither of these should affect pricture taking within AQ. So unless this behaviour can be replicated by someone else, then this just sounds like a local issue on your device. You could try resetting the application defaults with the Android APP settings.
Re: Picture waypoints problem
Ok.
1. I would like to check the AQ behavior on another Note 4 device of my fiend.
2. One of these days I want to make hard reset on my device so there will be another chance to check where the problem is.
Thanks.

Re: Picture waypoints problem
Hi Alex,
Yes unfortunately not all devices are compatible with the "Picture waypoint" function.
It depends on the built-in Camera application. Some of them doesn't allow external applications to use them to take a picture.
Most of the times, using an external Camera application will work, but the increasing security checks in recent Android versions (Android 6 and 7) simply forbid application to share data using the device storage. (here the picture to take). The built-in Camera application is not impacted by the security rules as it's a "system" application.
With every new Android versions, some features cannot be used anymore.
The alternative solution is:
- Add the "Camera" application to the user buttons in the main sub-menu;
- Take a picture using the regular Camera;
- Create a regular waypoints and select the taken picture from the library (in the create waypoint dialog click on more and Picture with the galery icon).

Re: Picture waypoints problem
After some reading on this subject, I've found that an alternative solution on requesting pictures from the Camera exists as of Android 5.
I've updated the app, the new way will be available in the next beta update, maybe it will work better...

The other solution is to root the device.
