The main feature of this new version is the online mode that allows users to display maps from OpenStreetMap directly in AlpineQuest.
Here is the complete list of enhancements:
- Online mode: it is possible to display online maps and store them on the SD card for offline use. This is an early version of this feature, a lot of enhancements are planned. Not that downloading the map images is much longer than using AQM offline maps;
- Fast map switching: new 'plus' and 'minus' buttons have been added, that allow to change the current map easily and automatically. The 'plus' button will select a more detailed map if available, the 'minus' a less one;
- GPX management improved: it is now possible to rename, delete or add waypoints, routes and tracks inside GPX files. Note that graphics and statistics are still not available, but should be featured in the next release;
- A 'quit' button have been added in the contextual menu (see discussion). Edit: this button doesn't work yet, use the 'Back' phone's button to quit AlpineQuest
Important note 2: AlpineQuest doesn't support all features of GPX standard. Using AlpineQuest to modify existing GPX files (like adding tracks or routes) created by other softwares will remove all features that are not supported (like descriptions, urls, etc.). Reading GPX file will not remove any data.
Thanks to all AlpineQuest users and buyers, have fun!
