[closed] GPX and KML files not showing in Download Folder

Post by Manumuskin »

I am attempting to import gpx and kml files from my Desktop to my Kindle Fire and into Offline Maps.I have moved gpx and kml files into my landmarks and download folders. The Offline Maps Landmarks folder shows 2 files in there in the Download Folder but when I click and open the landmarks folder it says space is empty even though the download folder just told me there were two files in there.I don't know if this is a kindle Fire issue or and Offline maps issue.I have tried transferring the files to several locations but each place the Offline Maps program tells me the folder is empty even though the Download folder just told me the files were in there.Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help,
Al

I found the answer to my query by looking back in the forum.I had to buy the 4 dollar plus version and that solved the problem. That was quite an adventure in itself which resulted in a wasted four dollars and profanities hurled at Google Play and then more hurled at Amazon but with an additional four dollars the plus version is mine! I am very satisfied and would gladly have paid more then the 8 bucks i had to pay for it.Just pisses me off that Google Play would state my device is compatible but after shelling out the four bucks change their mind and then at that point tell me i have the app but that it really isn't compatible with my Kindle Fire after all.The app is perfectly compatible,it's Google Play that isn't compatible with common sense or decency.I"ve been through this with GP before and I"m done with them. The app on the other hand now that i got it through Amazon (should have went there to begin with) is an awesome app.I wanted to be able to transfer gpx and kml waypoints and tracks to the app for viewing.I create these on my computer and then take them into the field with a hand held gps but a kindle is bigger and much more visible.Even if I get no gps reading with it it is still hand to be able to get a look at the aerials and maps better. Looking for big trees in old growth swamps is easier with a large viewing screen of detailed aerials.

Doesn't Google Play have an "I've changed my mind - refund me" option for x minutes (I think it's 15) after you purchase an app??

Hi and sorry for all the troubles you had!
Yes you need the "Plus" version to open GPX and KML files. It's explained in the "+" version description but it's true that it's not said anywhere else so it's easily to miss it... Sorry for not answering before!
Please send me your Google Play order ID by email and I'll refund it (contact at psyberia dot net). As ds4uk said, you get an automated refund when un-installing the app soon after the purchase (2 hours I guess).
Also, the version available on Amazon is much older (I've been able to upload the new version on it yet due to technical lacks), so few things may be missing. Alternatively, you can try this improved version of the app and check if it's working fine on your device (let me know).
Sorry again
Best regards
