[closed] Google Elevation Data

Post by grogan197 »

First of all thanks for making a great app! I have been using the very good MMTracker app to read my QCT files but that is no longer been developed and lacks the ability to display online maps or anything that isn't a QCT file.

After having a play with Alpine Quest over the last few days I can think of a few things that I could see as been useful.

If the app could cache or display data from the google elevation api. For instance to be able to show an elevation graph of a given route, with total ascent and descent. Also if a point on the map is clicked show the elevation of the clicked point along with distance from current position.

Long clicking on the map in MMTracker brings up some useful option like; Create Route, Maps at Position, Switch to a map at Smaller Scale, Switch to a map at Larger Scale. I have found this to be very useful and would save me time when using those common functions on Alpine Quest.

Hi and thanks for your feedback (sorry for the delay).
Supporting altitudes on the map is planned and will offer the abilities you requested (however it won't use Google services since the main purpose of the application is the offline use).
Concerning your second idea, there is a map menu in the application when you click on the center icon for saving waypoints. For switching the maps, you can use the "+" and "-" zoom buttons, the application will automatically load another available map (smaller or larger scale).
Best regards
