[closed] Short track history not showing

Hi

I've used Alpine Quest on several HTC phones and noticed this on all of them. When Alpine Quest is first intalled, a short track history is displayed behind the position marker. After a few days use it stops showing this after a few miles, then just doesn't show it at all, even from startup. It can be quite difficult to see the position marker without the short hstory line, how can I get it back?

Hi,

There is an option at the end of the application settings to turn on/off this feature (called "display last locations"), be sure it's checked.
Also, this short track is cleared as soon as you de-activate the GPS location, which also happens when you turn off the screen (to save the battery), but you can also disable this feature from the settings (section GPS, "disable in background").

Other than that, the complete version comes with a Location Tracker that can record and display your path for hours in a similar way, in this case it keeps recording even when the app is completely closed.

There seems to be more to this! I can now get the short track history to show, but when driving the car, it stops after around 5 minutes driving. If I close down the app and start again, it comes back, but again only for a short time. If I stop the car but leave aAlpine Quest running (for say 15 minutes), when I start again the short traffic history is there again, but only for a short time. I haven't really tested this, but I think this problem does not happen if I'm walking.

Note that the "short track history" only keeps your last 25 locations, so if you stay still for a long time, the track will disappear (since all previous locations will be at the same place). You should check that the track is displayed again once you move. Also, as explained above, as soon as you turn of the screen or send the app in the background for some time, the history is cleared.

If you need a longer history which keeps recording until you stop it (even if the screen is turned off or the app closed), then you've to use the "Location tracker" (start and stop it manually).

I'm still having this problem. I'm thinking it may be memory related as it doesn't seem to happen unless travelling in a car. The journey starts off with the short history plotting OK but after a few Km it stops displaying, just showing the current postion symbol. If I stop for a while, leaving AQ running, the short history is there again when I start off, but only for a short while. I have tried closing down AQ and starting it again immediately, the short track history is there again, indeed on some occasions it shows the short history from just before the restart! A mystery!

I'm still having this problem. I'm thinking it may be memory related as it doesn't seem to happen unless travelling in a car. I am inclined to agree that short track does not seem to be persistent enough. In much earlier versions of AQ, I'm sure that it showed longer trails when driving. The trails are far too short in the current version. It should be configurable IMHO.
