Hi,

I think, I already suggested this change in the behaviour

AQ have several methods to zoom:
- using +/- buttons on map view panel
- using volume up/down key ( if selected on settings )
- pinch-to-zoom gesture with two fingers

and

double tap on screen to zoom in

Sometimes is dificult ( if we have several open and displayed tracks ) to use the single tap on the track we are saving to insert a waypoint.

With so many ways to zoom, I suggest to use the double tap ( zoom in behavior) in any location of the map view to insert a waypoint.
I think is more straightforward and easy.

I hope you could make this adjustment.

Hi again,
Just to be sure you've noticed this feature (there is no many hidden features in AQ...):
You can single tap the screen center (small cross icon) to display the "screen center menu". From it you can create a new waypoint, open a location with Google Earth, and more options. When the tracker is recording, you can also add it a waypoint (I'm not sure about the photo).
So you just have to point the location you want to save with the screen center and tap it. I find it much precise that a free (single or double) tap.

Right now, the only downside is that if there is any landmark on the center, the menu of the landmark is displayed instead of the center one. I find it quite annoying some times, so I'll try to make a choice.
Apart from that, I find this feature quite close to what you are requesting, let me know what do you think,

You are right, I didn't know the screen center menu.

If I have several landmarks and I am recording I could shift the center from my current position and tap on it and add a waypoint.
This is of course better than the annoying behaviour ....

However, it wouild be faster and easier if we could (when recording):
- double-tap on any position of the map view and open the waypoint menu to insert a waypoint/photo on the current GPS position of the recording track.

Hi,

In last release of AQ (1.4.12), I think there are some bugs concerning
the creation of new waypoints using the "screen center menu", as you
sugest in your post (I am trying to get used to this option):

When I use the location tracker workspace - > Add Waypoint
The waypoints are correctly recorded (and saved) and shown in the map
view.


When I use the " screen center menu" and add a waypoint in the
"tracker " :
- some waypoints are shown in the map at same location. This location can change
with zoom level;
- they are all saved in gpx file with the same time and GPS location data;
- just the waypoints added this way are shown in the screen center menu.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong,

Hi again,
Sorry for not having posted after the last release. I made sure that the center menu is displayed anytime as soon as you click on the centre point.
I can not change the double-click behavior, it's a too important change, at least for a minor update. I know some peoples that use it and would not understood this change, so I guess that the centre technique is the best compromise.

Concerning your report, I have just checked the code and may have found the issue. I'll make a live test tomorrow to be sure to reproduce the problem and check that it was that, I'll let you know, but it seems you're doing the right thing and AQ not... An update is should be available soon I'll take care of this issue.

Hello again!

Thanks for the new version 1.4.13 of AQ .

Concerning the "screen center menu" to add a waypoint on the
"tracker", unfortunately a bug still remains :

- the waypoints are shown in the map and saved to gpx file at the
locations where the "center mark" is positioned to be clicked
(de-localized from the track point to be easier to access the
options menu).

The others ways to add waypoints are working well.

I hope you could fix this.

Humm, based on your description I'm not sure it's a bug.
Waypoints created using the center menu should be located at this exact location. If you want to create a waypoint on the track, move the center on the track first.
This behavior is useful since it allows to create waypoints not just located on the track but also around it.
Let me know if it's not that what happening.

Yes you are right, the waypoints created using the "center menu" are
located where is the center mark.

"To create a waypoint in a recording track we must move the center on
the track first" - In my opinion, this behaviour don't make easier to
insert a waypoint when recording a track especially if we have several
open and displayed tracks. This is time consuming and also annoying.

I attached two screenshots with two ways to insert waypoints.
It will be very nice and easier if we could use both in the same way -
insert a waypoint at present GPS recording location. Maybe the Target
center in "center menu" could have an sub-menu option to insert a new waypoint
to record the exact location of the center mark (see the red arrow showing
where the sub-menu option could be located).

I hope you could do something about this.

Hi again,
You're right that the 'New waypoint' menu in the center screen menu should be named 'New waypoint here' or something like that...
If I clearly understand what you would like to do, it seems that you can do it by not clicking on the center screen, but rather on the recorded track, and select 'New waypoint' in this other menu. In this case, the new waypoints will be on the track, like if using the button in the Tracker window. Note that you must be currently recording the track to see this option.

This frequently happens and we must do several tries until we open the
right menu. Very annoying.

I apologise for insist in this subject, but I think the sub-menu
sugestion ( I think it is a minor change ) from my last post is a fair
compromise to the "double-click behavior".

I hope you could do something about this.

I'll make some test but having another tracker waypoint's option in this same menu will again increase the complexity of this app, already often reviewed as being difficult to understand.
Note that the center click menu is handled in the same way that a click on any other item, so clicking on the recording track should not be harder.

Hi Rac,
I'm not sure to fully understand your request but adding a waypoint at exactly the GPS location in a track is not difficult IMHO.
During a track recording, if you happen to move the center for any reason, you can replace it at the exact position where you are / at the GPS location by touching the Location / Tracker button which will be in green and with a lock (the lock is shown only when the center has been moved). Then you can use the center location menu to add a waypoint.
I prefer to have simple menus when possible.
Just my opinion.

As you already noted for sure my English isn't very good. So, perhaps
I am missing something out or I am not sufficiently clear.

CRider, I used the "return way" of the center mark to the current GPS
location as you clearly described. Thanks anyway for your comment. I
also prefer clear and easier menus. We agree with this. Because of
this, in my first post, I suggested the double-click or maybe a lengthy
click (1 -3 seconds) on screen, to insert a new waypoint at the current
GPS location ... I also know that we can do the same thing by clicking
on the recording track or on the blue circle (GPS accuracy) or on the
Track Menu ... clicking on the track is easier if we have displayed
only the recording track. However, if we have several displayed tracks
it could be very annoying.

The suggested "restructure" of the center mark menu is probably easy to
implement, a minor change to the menu, without compromising its
simplicity. You would just be adding one more sub-entry (in blue in the
schematic below) and a change in the other sub-entry (in red):


->Target Center
---> Waypoint (inserts a new waypoint
at center mark location)
->Open with ...
->Create a Landmark ..
---> Waypoint
---> Picture Waypoint
->Location tracker
---> New waypoint ( inserts a new waypoint
on the current location of the GPS on recording track)

(seems to me that if we have "Location Tracker" entry here, why not to
expect the same behaviour as in the "Tracker Menu" were we can find the
graphics, info and also the add waypoint?)

Don't worry about you're English, it's really good! I think I have clearly understand your idea (and I guess CRider too).
Technically the change you're suggesting is easy to do, that's not the problem, it's just that I think it may lead to confusions, based on what is already available. I have thought about this and I came to the same result that the center menu should only create things at the center:
- The first 'Create waypoint' menu is not related to the tracker, it's available even if the tracker is not started;
- The 'Create waypoint' under 'Location Tracker' currently adds a waypoint to the tracker at the center screen location (that was the point of our discussion). As noticed CRIder, when the center screen is locked on the GPS location, this button behaves just like you would like, but with keeping the ability of adding a tracker waypoint somewhere else, not necessarily on your track, when moving the center screen away.

Since you are very interested by the ability of adding waypoint to the tracker at your current GPS location wherever is pointing the center location, what I can do is to add an advanced option so the 'New waypoint' menu of 'Location tracker' behave like that. Let me know what you think about that.
