Hello
When doing a Select and save area from my phone with AlpineQuest I was consistently getting hundreds of errors.
When doing a similar download from my tablet with OfflineMaps I can get all the tildes.
I have copied the two files .IDX and .DAT from my tablet to my phone and after that the download was successful.
Of course there was nothing to download anymore (or a little number of tildes when selecting a slightly different area)
It looks like the source of the map (here Cycle/Hike Map) was not the origin of the problem.
Could it be possible that the .IDX or .DAT file was corrupted?
What would have been the correct procedure to fix this problem ?
This time I was lucky because I had only ONE area in this file at that moment, then replacing it with another one was not a problem.
Do you have any tool to edit, merge, extract, cleanup these .IDX and .DAT files ?
Regards

Re: Some tiles consistently return error when downloading on one device but works ok on another one
Hi Alain,
There could be multiple explanations. I'm not sure what it was in your specific case, but:
- The map server setup change on a regular basis, so when you have issues with a map, one of the first thing you should try is to update your map config: https://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/ ... _maps_list
This way you're sure you have the latest map config.
- Some map servers generate the tiles on demand. The first time the app request one tile, the server respond "I don't have it, but I'll generate, then try again later". In this case, the tile will be displayed as an error from the app (cause it couldn't get the image). But if you try again a few seconds/minutes later, the tile will be available and the app will be able to retrieve it. It may be that when you first tried to download with AlpineQuest, the tiles where not available, and started to be generated, and from OfflineMaps they were ready.
Here are some tips/info:
- If you have a corrupted maps storage (.DAT/.IDX), the app will display a small message, so you'll be aware. In this case, the fix is to clean the map storage for this specific map: https://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/ ... tored_data
- To clear the map storage for one map: https://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/ ... tored_data
- When you have errors while downloading, you can have a look at the types of errors you get, it can help to know what's happening. See steps 5 - 6 here: https://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/ ... he_process
- More generally, making an error report after something seems wrong will send me your log files, and it helps a lot: main menu -> More -> Report error.
Hope it helps
