Android, maps no longer showing

Android: Everything used to be fine. When I clicked the maps icon I was presented with a list of available maps. I needed to add a map for a new location and was unable to access the folder by plugging in my phone from a Windows computer (previously it worked). I resorted to using a usb memory stick plugged into the OTG socket and using a file manager on the phone to copy the map to the location. This worked fine and if I drag white screen to a track, the map appears. But I cannot select the map from a list as the list does not appear. Alpine Quest tells me I do not have permission to the folder when I try to navigate to it within AQ, but within the file manager, I can access it. Can anyone give me any guidance please?
