Why are vast areas of northern North America completely light polluted?
I was going to ask upstream, but they don't have the problem there on

Artic light pollution?
Re: Artic light pollution?
At least the ATLAS 2015 map doesn't have the problem.

Well, all I know is on image I posted above, from the Bering Straits all the way to the Northwest Territories of Canada, you see this strange green glow. It seems that the occurrence of arctic tundra has been inserted into the light pollution layer.
Re: Artic light pollution?
If you check FAQ on the help page ( https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/help.html#FAQ ) it says:
"1. Why is Canada lit up like a christmas tree?
Two words. Aurora borealis. It is very hard to remove Aurora borealis from VIIRS data."
so it is just natural light pollution on the data.
