Is it possible to increase the size of the distance text as shown in the attached screen shot (blue text). I'd like to double it's size. It's a real pain having to put glasses on just to read how far my next wp is...

Yes, it's possible.
Just go to menu bar / GPS icon / Options / GPS status option / and set the needed size with the cursor.
