Is information about the date the currently viewed area's satellite photo was taken available?
I see a map's last update time, but that doesn't describe when the satellite photo was taken.

No sorry it's not possible to get this information.
It depends on too many factors, including the images provider, the displayed area, the zoom level, etc...

Does it mean it's impossible to implement displaying it or do the image providers not provide this information at all?

I think they don't provide this information at all, at least I've not seen any way to get it for any of them.
