[resolved] Importing waypoints

Post by Cheds »

Hi! Been using offline maps for ages, it's a great app.

Recently had to reset my phone so I backed up my way points on a hard drive so I could reimport them after my phone reset.

I'm just having an issue importing them back into the app, they're saved as the default used by offlinemaps (.wpt I believe) and I got the additional ability to import from oziexplorer (as this uses the same .wpt format?) with no success. The folder where all my way points are saved reports as being empty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi,
The .wpt files used by the app is not the same that the .wpt files used by OziExplorer. "wpt" is just the contraction of "waypoint".
In order to use you items in other apps, you must export them in a common format like GPX.

Thanks for your reply.
So I have all my waypoints from offlinemaps saved on a hard drive as the default ".wpt" used by the offlinemaps app. Is there a way to get these imported back into the offline maps?
Thanks!

Yes, just put them on your smartphone ("downloads" folder for example), go in that folder with OfflineMaps placemark explorer and display them again or do whatever you need with them.

Thanks, I have done this but when I navigate to the folder with all my waypoints in them it says "this place is empty". Any ideas?

Can you make an error report from the application? (main menu -> more -> report error)?

Hi,
A new version is being released currently (3.9) that should give you more information when your display a folder (is the app can access it, if there are some unknown files, etc), as well as more information in the logs.
Because right now your logs contain almost nothing (I think you didn't display any folder before submitting the report).
If you want to force this new version right now, you can go in the Play Store, in the application page and request beta versions.
Hope it will be fine then.

Sorry to bring this back up again but I am still unable to import my old waypoints. Whenever I navigate to the folder where I have them stored in the app it shows as empty (see pics attached).

Hi,
If you have Android 11, please move your "waypoints/" folder inside the application folder (usually "/Android/data/net.psyberia.offlinemaps/file/landmarks/").
Android now only allows apps to access media files (images, music, etc) on your shared memory (more details here)
