The undocumented Explorer mode is wonderful, except,
The information overlays occupy 1/3 of the screen. If one taps the X to get rid of them it also kills Explorer mode and we return back to 2D.
Also, our cell phones all have tiltmeters and gyroscopes. Therefore they should also influence the 3D display as we move around the room.

Hi,
In the app settings you can un-check "Automatic Explorer mode" so you can change the view perspective (this is not 3D, only perspective) without having the information. Just pitch the map up or down with 2 fingers.
In a future version you'll also be able to change the information panel size (which is right now as you said fixed to 1/3 of the screen).
Concerning the gyroscopes, right now this is not planned.
