Re: Unable to transfer files to Android 11
... or plug the SD card only on a computer. I can't believe I overlooked to use the simplest and most direct method! A fine example of not being able to "see the forest for the trees". By inserting the phone's SD card directly in the PC, Android's directory and file permissions are...

Unable to transfer files to Android 11
I have transferred all directories and files related to AlpineQuest (Full) from the SD card of my old phone (Android 7) to the SD card of my new phone (Android 11). The files reside in a directory named /AlpineQuest but they cannot be used by AlpineQuest because of the file restrictions in Android 1...

Re: Move files from internal to external storage.
Thank you (both) for your replies. Use the SD card as "Adoptable Storage" I don't want to use adoptable storage because it encrypts the SD card's contents and the encryption key is tied to the phone. Should the SD card ever develop a hiccup, its contents become unrecoverable. I can't simpl...

[closed] Move files from internal to external storage.
I recently purchased an SD card for my phone. I wish to transfer the existing AlpineQuest data (627 Mb) from internal storage to the SD card (external storage). The following screen indicates I have only one available option for "Application Path". The first option is unavailable and says ...

Re: Sunrise/set and Moonrise/set.
I forgot to add that I am in no way associated with the developer of the product I described above and I'm not receiving compensation in any form. It's just one of several available apps that report sun and moon events. I mentioned it only because it is useful information for navigation but need not...

Sunrise/set and Moonrise/set.
I was going to suggest the addition of a new AQ feature that reports the time of sunrise/set and moonrise/set. I have this on my Garmin GPS. It is useful to know how much daylight remains and if there'll be a moon to illuminate the night. I then realized there's probably an app for that! I found one...

Re: Auto Caching Map?
Are cached maps ever automatically refreshed? From here: http://www.alpinequest.net/en/help/v2/maps When the same area is displayed again, the application will use the stored data instead of downloading it again (unless the stored data is too old and a new version can be downloaded). "unless th...

Re: Waypoints with Photos on Motorola Android 6
You're absolutely right! :) I was wrong about FX File Explorer. It's "Images" view works the same way as Gallery and Photos. All three apps maintain a private index of photo files. When AQ deletes a photo, their index isn't updated and so they continue to believe the photo is available but...

Re: Waypoints with Photos on Motorola Android 6
Either I have misunderstood the purpose of the "shredder" icon or it isn't working correctly. I attached 3 existing images to an existing waypoint. I tapped the "shredder" icon next to each image to delete it from the waypoint. All three images have been deleted from my phone . I...

Re: Waypoints with Photos on Motorola Android 6
I just followed Yemble's instructions using my phone (Moto X Play, Android 6.0.1) and can confirm I see the same behavior. I can create a Picture Waypoint. I cannot add an existing photo to an existing waypoint using AlpineQuest's native image viewer . The viewer shows "Recent" photos but ...

Re: [sticky] Android versions and devices that have been tested
Works fine with Moto X Play running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.
The following errors were reported to occur on some Motorola phones. I have not experienced any of them with my Moto X Play (and AQ 2.0.2).

- Pinch-to-zoom generates error messages.
- Picture Waypoint fails to access the camera.

Re: Suggestion: Interface with automation apps via Android intents.
Thanks! Another use of intents would be to pause/restart/stop&save the Track Recorder. By exposing some of AQ's internal operations with intents, I can use an automation app to listen for the intent and perform desired tasks. In other words, I can create custom functionality without you having t...

[done] Suggestion: Interface with automation apps via Android intents.
Suggestion: Create Android intents that can be used by automation apps. This can provide a voice-command interface to AQ. An automation app, like Tasker , can transmit/receive intents which allows it to control/respond to other apps. This capability, along with a plugin like AutoVoice, can be used ...

Re: Alternate "map center icon".
OK, I just saw a video of an older version of AQ and it had the "reticle" style of icon I described above. I also saw the icon style is listed as the fifth requested feature in this list: http://www.alpinequest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=224 All this to say, I guess I'm not the only...
