Thanks for the reply. I really want to get it sorted without having to buy a different phone - because whilst MMTracker is good for the UK, I don't have maps for other countries. I am no techie but it seems to me that it's just the track recorder that gets stopped and not the whole Alpine Quest app....

Thanks for the reply. I have used the Alpinequest app to download the region in Spain I wanted on to my phone.... That's great. Previously I used MOBAC to create maps which I downloaded to PC, kept on the cloud for access anywhere, copied to my phone, backup phone and partner's phone (I am cautious)...

It seems to depend on the app calling the GPX. When I download a gpx file in Aquamail choosing 'Save and open' it just offers me 'Nova Launcher' and 'Backup/Restore' as apps to open it with.
