Re: Huawei phone which doesn't stop tracking?
Thanks. The main reason for the post was to try to find out if anyone else had the same problem and overcome it. After the post above I took a photo whilst tracking and it didn't affect the tracking. However, on my last 2 walks in have set MMtracker and AlpineQuest running at the same time. The trac...

Re: Huawei phone which doesn't stop tracking?
Thanks for the reply. I really want to get it sorted without having to buy a different phone - because whilst MMTracker is good for the UK, I don't have maps for other countries. I am no techie but it seems to me that it's just the track recorder that gets stopped and not the whole Alpine Quest app....

Huawei phone which doesn't stop tracking?
4 of my family/friends have Huawei P30/P30 Pro phones which we use for hiking navigation. The problem with AlpineQuest, for us, is that if we don't look at AlpineQuest relatively frequently the app will stop tracking (even though the Track Recorder toggle is still in the On position after the tracki...

Re: MOBAC & creating hiking maps
Great. That sounds like what I want if I can simply copy the workspace directory to another mobile and use it on there... I will give it a go next time. There's so much to your app I just don't know what's there. Thanks!

Re: MOBAC & creating hiking maps
Thanks for the reply. I have used the Alpinequest app to download the region in Spain I wanted on to my phone.... That's great. Previously I used MOBAC to create maps which I downloaded to PC, kept on the cloud for access anywhere, copied to my phone, backup phone and partner's phone (I am cautious)...

MOBAC & creating hiking maps
I have always used MOBile Atlas Creator for making maps outside of the UK. A few weeks ago I made one using OpenStreetMap Hikebikemap.de as the MapSource. Now I can't see anything on screen on MOBac when I try to use this as a source. I have tried another PC and get the same. Is it me or has OpenStr...

Re: Associating gpx files with AlpineQuest
Thanks for the reply. I was pretty sure there was nothing wrong at AlpineQuest's end but I wondered if there was something I could do on my mobile to set it up to work. Very strange though as AquaMail on my old phone opened gpx files up in AlpineQuest fine but something must have changed as it doesn...

Re: Associating gpx files with AlpineQuest
It seems to depend on the app calling the GPX. When I download a gpx file in Aquamail choosing 'Save and open' it just offers me 'Nova Launcher' and 'Backup/Restore' as apps to open it with. In Total Commander the app seems to recognise that AlpineQuest can open gpx and trk files...so this work. In ...

Associating gpx files with AlpineQuest
I've just bought a new phone and I would like to associate gpx (and trk) files with AlpineQuest so that when I look at recorded tracks in file manager I just need to click on them and they open up in AlpineQuest. My old phone did this but I can't remember how I got it to work. Can anyone tell me how...

Re: Initial Feedback & Questions
Thanks Yemble. I was rather hoping to keep using the QCT maps I already have at 1:25K. They occupy less than 16GB for the whole of the UK so considerably less than the 70GB you mention. It's not like it's impossible to use as they are but I was surprised at the difference between the 2. One more zoo...

Re: Initial Feedback & Questions
Well I've had a couple of walks and really like the ability to get a height gained/lost profile of the walk on AlpineQuest. I'm still struggling with loading previous tracks in and removing them (I tried deleting all the imported Displayed landmarks but the old track still remained until I closed th...

[closed] Initial Feedback & Questions
I've just purchased AlpineQuest to hopefully replace MMTacker (which I use for UK hiking) and OruxMaps (which I use for hiking abroad). AlpineQuest seems to be the only alternative if I want to use my MemoryMap maps and a great one at that. Two of the main advantages over MMTracker are : moving off ...
