Re: Rotation of map versus selecting an area to save
Yes, but the user thinks it is just being playful. If it was serious then it would enforce it for the remainder of the selection session.

Rotation of map versus selecting an area to save
I enabled rotating the map with fingers, in Preferences. Then I chose to save an area. The map snapped back to north. Then I rotated it with my fingers back 45°. Then I put in Northwest to Southeast coastline, in the rectangle. Then I pushed start. Examining the results, it didn't save the slanted c...

Add dates to “what's new” log
Regarding the "what's new" that we see in the app after each Google Play update: I would add a date after each entry. That way we know if we're looking at something from 3 years ago or something from last week. Currently there is just a version number between each item. And then also at th...

Maybe when there are various Clloudflare, etc. along the way
https://www.google.com/search?q=cache+control
headers might still help.

Re: Get other resolution tiles at the same time
By the way, you notice I have the force update checkbox checked. Well I discovered that even doing that, wasn't as good as doing Control-F5 in a browser! So you are just getting tiles from upstream, you're not asking upstream to refresh caches, as good as a browser could! So maybe also have another ...

Re: Get other resolution tiles at the same time
You should put it as a checkbox in this dialog.
Just today I had to run it once for magnification 19, run it again for magnification 18,.. big hassle.
You can even have a choice of how many zoom levels to also get: one less than current, two less than current, three less than current, etc

Show both km and mi at same time
Who says one needs to make the hard choice between kilometers and miles? Why not enable showing both of them! Let's say I'm driving around with my relatives from various countries. Well I need to tell one that we're 5 km from the the vegetable market. And I need to tell the other that we are three m...

Re: What is the meaning of the number in parentheses in the info box (at the end of position accuracy line)
Seems that "seconds elapsed since last fix" would be more intuitive. "My GPS hasn't updated in 45 seconds... maybe I'm in a tunnel." That would only require one glance to get the answer. Otherwise one would need to remember the number on the screen, and then look again and see if...

Re: Show waypoints above covered squares, not below
I'm just saying we love the squares, and we love the waypoints, but we love the later more than the former, not the former more than the latter. And we don't want to disable either one.

Re: Undisplaying placemark easy, redisplaying placemark hard
When we tap to add a placemark, we could notice a choice that says "by the way, we found a nearby undisplayed placemark. do you want to just display it instead?"

Undisplaying placemark easy, redisplaying placemark hard
There should be a one tap function to show a list of the nearest undisplayed placemarks.
Currently one must do many taps to do the search and then sort the search.
Currently it is a thousand times easier to just create a second place mark, instead of trying to redisplay an undisplayed placemark.

Leave captured rectangle on screen for a little while
Let's say we want to capture all of colorado. Okay we make a rectangle and we capture all of colorado. Now let's say we want to capture all of wyoming. We do the same thing. Okay now let's say that those two rectangles are some arbitrary neighboring rectangles and not state boundaries. When we want ...

Re: How to make the "process completed" infobox get off the screen?
Okay a workaround is, simply choose "select and save an area" again. But don't actually run it. Just hit the X button to cancel it. And voila, the aforementioned message that is bothering me is now gone too..

How to make the "process completed" infobox get off the screen?
It's a great little infobox. It was helpful. We look forward to seeing it the next time we do a batch job of fetching map tiles. But we don't want to necessarily stare at it for the rest of our lives. How to make it go away? No I'm not talking programmaticly, I'm saying where's the little X button t...

Re: What is the meaning of the number in parentheses in the info box (at the end of position accuracy line)
So on a long train trip, it should get into the thousands?
And when does it reset to 0? When we e.g., switch to Gmail and then switch back?
Or when we turn off the location slider to no longer track our position?
