there is a new and very accurate database of topographic maps of Antarctica which can be found at the following link :

Polar maps are now supported in version 2.3.0 and some maps are included in the community maps list.

Hi,
You can already display most of the data I guess. Get an export in the CSV format and import the file in the app.
For example:
- https://apc.antarctica.ac.uk:
apc_bat_gazetteer.csv.set
(1.08 MiB) Downloaded 279 times
- https://antarctictreaty.maps.arcgis.com:
visitedsites_full_v2.csv.set
(246.91 KiB) Downloaded 313 times

For the maps (& contours, etc), you can use this file, but you'll have some display issues at smaller scales:

Hi, I have downloaded the demo Polar.aqx from your post. Many thanks and much appreciated. Is this still current or have you made any updates since posting this? Is there any way I can get place names or contours for example. Many thanks. Great work!

Hi,
As an update, I've made some work but it's not yet ready for official release. The polar projections have been added, but it remains a lot of work to properly support polar maps.
If you have the latest beta version from the Play Store (2.2.8 beta), you should be able to display some (most) polar maps but a lot of features are still not working fine, including placemarks, so it should only be used for beta testing. You can find a demo file in attachement if you want to test.
The next official version (2.2.8) will only officially support polar coordinate systems, but not polar maps yet. I'll try to fully support them in the following version, but nothing is sure.

Hi there, any update on the possibility of polar maps? in particular this one https://antarctictreaty.maps.arcgis.com ... d08a05ea06 would be amazing to have offline access to! just with the place names and satellite view would make my life easier!

This does not appear to be possible right now?
Is there any possibility that polar projections might be supported soon? This year maybe in time for a trip early 2020.
